Joining Meetup
We use the Meetup platform to connect players with pickleball venues across NSW.
These instructions are to help you sign up to our PANSW Meetup group. Once you are a member you can sign up for pickleball sessions (events) that you wish to join. Joining Meetup is free.
These instructions are for signing up on a PC.
Step 1: Getting a Meetup account
- Go to https://www.meetup.com . Click on ‘sign up’ it’s in the top right-hand corner. You’ll need an email address and a password to join.
- It will then prompt you through various questions to answer to help set up your account.
Step 2: Joining the NSW Pickleball Meetup group
- Once you have a Meetup account you can access all of the various interest groups that are available world-wide.
- To join the PANSW Pickleball Meetup group click on this link https://www.meetup.com/en-AU/pickleball-nsw/ it will take you directly to the PANSW Pickleball Meetup group page.
- Now click the red ‘request to join’ button.
- Here you will need to add a photo. A profile photo is preferred but not mandatory. Your picture can be anything you choose.
- You will then need to answer the Code of Conduct question.
- Click the red ‘Next’ button
When your request has been received, we can approve your membership (this usually happens in less than 24 hours). Once your membership is approved you will have access to all of the NSW Pickleball events on Meetup.
Please note: When starting Step 2 if the link does not take you directly to the NSW Pickleball Meetup page it means you are not currently signed into your actual Meetup account. If this is the case you will first get a pop up message asking you to sign into your personal Meetup account. Once you are signed into your Meetup account you shouldn’t have any problems with the link.
Step 3: Meetup app
- Once you have your account set up you can also download the Meetup app (Apple or Android) and access the NSW Pickleball Meetup group from your phone.
- If you download the app make sure you log in using the same email and password you used to set up your account.
Controlling the notifications you receive from Meetup:
After joining Meetup they will send you notifications. It’s important to understand that Meetup will send notifications from the Meetup themselves and you will receive notifications from the Pickleball NSW Meetup group.
Controlling Email notifications on your computer:
- From your profile picture click the small arrow to get the drop-down menu.
- Click settings
- Once in settings go over to the left hand side of your screen and click email updates. You will then get a list of options for messages that you receive from the Meetup organisation itself (not Pickleball NSW). You can tailor these Meetup messages as you like, then -
- Scroll down to the very bottom and you will see 2 more options
- Pickleball NSW- (with an edit option to the right) if you click on edit you can select/deselect which email notifications you receive from the Pickleball NSW Meetup group itself (recommended if you find you are getting information not relevant to you)
- Turn off all email updates – this option will turn absolutely all notifications off rather than tailoring it. It’s not recommended as it will mean you get absolutely nothing. Some notifications can be important. You may wish to be notified of some things like when an event has been cancelled, a competition is being organized, a new venue is starting up or there is a time change. Sometimes venues send their players a special message to their whole group. From time to time Pickleball NSW may send something to the whole membership.
